Overview

Since 2015, Qatar has proven to be one of the most sought after luxury cruise destinations in the Arabian Gulf’s winter cruise season. To support the tremendous growth of the industry, Mwani Qatar plays key role in the redevelopment of the port and its port facilities.

Doha Port’s cruise terminal can currently accommodate mega cruise liners and luxury yachts.

Location

Located in the heart of the Doha city, with close connectivity to the city’s most prominent Souq waqif, museums and tourist attractions.

The number of berths in the port is 39, including:

  • General cargo berths-containers and RO-RO berths.
  • Grain and fodder berths.
  • Unpacked cargo berths, cooled cargo berths and general cargo berths.

The depth of sea waters in such berths ranges from 9 up to 14 meters, while its total length is 7837 meters. Such berths are provided with modern equipment and installations for cargo handling and stowage, in addition to carrying it from the port, also forklift and other electronic lifts of different types, some of which are of 3.2.15 tons capacity. Moreover, lifts for unloading grains, receiving dock with a length reaching 4000 meters and the sea depth along the dock ranging between 4.5 and 6 meters.

Port Characteristics

Promoting Qatar’s Cruise Industry

Doha port provides wide range of passenger facilities, including seamless immigration, customs, foreign exchange, taxi and bus stands, city bus tours as well as Qatar Duty Free, cafe, waiting areas for cruise passengers and staff. It also features various tourist information services offered by Qatar Tourism Authority.

Relevant Mwani Qatar marine services within the port are offered to the vessels calling at Doha Port ensuring safe and efficient arrival and departure.

The new Administration of the Port of Tripoli has pledged to develop and update the Port both in operation performance and delivery of services, with the aim to better serve and facilitate the transactions of the Port’s clientele. This Administration proceeded with a full renovation of the entire infrastructure including water, electricity, internal pass ways and warehouses. Vacancies in Human Resources were also filled. It is currently executing a plan to update and upgrade its Information Technology infrastructure to encompass the Administrative, Financial, and Commercial operations. In addition, Tariffs were carefully revised so that the cost of services offered by the Port become an unavoidable option when it comes to shipping in the Eastern basin of the Mediterranean sea. The aim of this Administration is to turn the Port of Tripoli into a Corporation that is organized, modern, and dynamic, with the required agility to be responsive to futur requirements for update and change, in order to attend to the interests of the Port’s clientele. Large development projects, especially the construction of the new Berth which is 1,200 m long and 15 m deep with an accompanied land area of 600,000 m2, will definitely elevate the status of the Port of Tripoli to become at par with International Ports, and to occupy a prominent position on the international shipping map.   • 40 security guards that work 24/24 to protect and guard the Port and the Free Zone
  • A network of surveillance cameras with a fiber optics infrastructure, currently under construction
F- Parkings
  • Administration and visitor parking with a capacity for 50 vehicles
  • Transit and Free Zone parking, with a capacity for 100 trucks
G- Toilets
  • 4 washrooms and toilets distributed around the Port (under construction)
H- Duty-Free Market
  • A Duty-Free market with an area of 880 m2, developed by Interwoods Company.
I- Other Services
  • 3 Cafeterias to serve the Administration building and the Berths
  • A Hospital – under construction
  • An office for the Workers’ Union

Development Plan

Mwani Qatar works closely with Qatar Tourism Authority and Ministry of Interior to develop the cruise industry which has seen a remarkable increase in the passenger arrivals over the years.
